Amer bought Wilson in 1989 changing the strategy of the predominantly tobacco based company who was having problems finding their identity once again. In 2005 they decided to turn their focus to sporting goods changing their name to Amer Sports Corporation. The company is based in Finland and started by selling cigarettes via Philip Morris. Amer's focus continues to elude the basketball market focusing mainly on volleyball and football. Although their presence in the basketball market is scarce, they do offer the following Wilson in-ground adjustable basketball equipment.

  • Wilson Street Slam
  • Wilson Rim Rocker
  • Wilson Jam-In

Their backboard offering is the worst in the industry. On their highest end basketball hoop (Wilson Rim Rocker) they have a thin sheet of 3/8" soft acrylic material. Most other companies increase this to ½" for stability reasons while companies like Hoops offer a tempered glass solution via their Pro Dunk line of basketball systems. The Pro Dunk systems use the 4 times heavier more durable tempered glass which give the goals gym quality play. The Wilson systems do not adjust as low as the Pro Dunk goals either. The Wilson systems adjust down to 7' 6" while the Hoops basketball hoops will adjust from 10' to 5' and anywhere in-between making it the perfect goal for young players while providing unsurpassed quality to more demanding players.
